Plasma Pen London

What is Fibroblasting?

What is Fibroblasting? Its a new skin tightening and rejuvenating procedure that is non-invasive, needle-free with significant, long-lasting results, low downtime (compared to surgery) at a fraction of the cost. A Plasma Pen is a device used to deliver this treatment.

How does it work?

With our state-of-the-art German engineered Plasma Pen developed by Denise Walsh International and under our highly trained practitioner, the skin tissue is forced to contract virtually immediately by a plasma arc that pings against the skin, this thermally disrupts the skin as well as fibroblasts. Although you can see some of these micro-traumas effects almost immediately, possibly 30% to 50%, the final result will be fully realised over the following 3 months.

Is the Plasma Pen safe?

Our Plasma pen uses the finest tips available from 0.2mm to 0.4mm nanoprobes to deliver super precision. The benefits are a great tightening effect, a quicker healing process, and less downtime.

The plasma pen can be used on most skin types for rejuvenation, (sometimes known as a Plasma Facial) but for the full plasma pen fibroblasting treatment, this is only available on Fitzpatrick skin types l, ll and lll.  If you are borderline skin type III to IV, your practitioner will assess your skin and offer a test patch before treatment.  People with darker skin types lV and V have melanocytes capable of making large amounts of melanin which can cause hyper pigment or hypo pigment so unfortunately are not good candidates for this procedure.

Does it hurt?

Before you start the treatment, you will be given some topical anaesthetic. It’s important to attend your appointment on time to allow the anaesthetic to take effect, which takes approximately 40 minutes. We will also give you a secondary anaesthetic once the procedure has commenced making you as comfortable as possible, many clients report very minimal discomfort if any.

How much do Plasma Pen Fibroblasting treatments cost?

Cost of treatment varies depending on the area to be treated.  If more than one area is treated at the same time, there are discounts available.  You can view the cost of each treatment here.

Do you offer a package price?

Yes, if you have more than one area done at the same time or it’s decided you will need more than one treatment on the same area to get the desired effect, we will offer a package price that will be discussed at your consultation.

What is involved with Fibroblasting treatments?

Your practitioner will apply topical anaesthetic to the skin’s surface for 40 mins before the treatment, the cream will be removed, then using a small pen-shaped device, your practitioner with ‘spray’ the surface of the skin, moving the pen back and forth lightly over the skin, this allows the secondary anaesthetic to sink into the skin, but it is also part of the actual treatment and adds extra tightening effects to the skin in conjunction with the ‘dotting’ (small dots 1mm apart that form a crust) that will be performed once the skin is fully numb.

How long will it be before I see results?

You will see an immediate tightening after the treatment. After the initial tightening and once the healing has taken place, collagen production and skin tightening will get progressively better over the following 12 weeks.

How successful is the treatment?

The simple fact is, it works!  The extent of the improvement is down to several factors, but predominantly it’s down to the amount of initial laxity of the skin.  Someone with ‘soft’ ageing should achieve the desired effect with just one treatment. However, someone with heavy sagging and lines may need more than one treatment, it all depends on their expectations, they may be happy with a much fresher look, or they may want a more dramatic result.

How long does it last?

On average, the treatment lasts approximately 3 years; however, it can be much longer.  Once the desired results have been achieved, the collagen will carry on ageing at its natural rate.  Intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as UV exposure and smoking can contribute to the collagen breaking down earlier. Therefore lifestyle will have some bearing on how long the results may last.  Some people may not need it doing again for some considerable time; others may need another treatment to maintain results after this time.

What downtime can I expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?

There is downtime, but it is very subjective.  If you compare it to surgery, the downtime is very minimal; however, if you compare it to a light chemical peel that no one can see you’ve had anything done, you will notice it more.

You will immediately see small dots and redness after the treatment so although you will be fine and can carry on with everyday tasks you won’t be looking your best.  You can also expect some swelling, particularly the following day but this usually settles down after two to three days depending on the area treated.

The average time for the crusts (small dots) to fall off is usually about 8 days for the face and neck; however, we supply a skin coloured balm that can help cover this area.

These guidelines are for average healing time.  It is important to follow the aftercare advice for best results, including no drinking alcohol, no smoking, and no touching or picking at the crusts.  Pigmentation from the small marks can be present for longer if the crusts come away earlier than expected, such as lying on one side of the face whilst sleeping.

If your health is compromised in any way, this can extend your healing time and negatively affect the final results.

How many treatments will I need?

In many cases, this is a single treatment, but more than one treatment may be required depending on the skin laxity.
